The History of Primrose Hill’s shops, pubs and restaurants

Welcome to this website chronicling the history of the shops and other public businesses in this area of London, from when the very first ones opened in 1855 to the present day.

This project springs from the research done for the 2006 book ‘Windows On The Past’ – for more details, follow the link – and gives  a directory of the previous uses of each shop and the story of the pubs, taverns and eating places of Primrose Hill.

Find a shop or an address using the search tools on the right. Click on images to see them in detail.

  1. Dear everyone,
I am looking for historical photos/drawings of 70 Regents Park Road. I am particularly interested in any photos showing the front garden. I am a Garden Designer interested in the garden history of the area.
    Kind regards,
    Stine Jensen
